Christmas 2019 was one for the books! We got lucky enough to have some extended family in town for the holidays! My sister Chio, her fiancé Alex and my nephew AJ were visiting from Chicago. We even had grandpa Agustin in town! And to add the cherry on top hubs was off Christmas Eve AND Christmas Day!! Ahhh!!
The boys actually had a great time the whole month leading up to Christmas. We visited Santa three times because Sebastian kept forgetting to tell Santa something. On our last visit to Santa he added Pokémon cards to his list while Alex just kept reminding Santa that he wanted his bumble bee transformer. The sweetest thing on their lists were water bottles, I absolutely loved that! The boys were each very excited to see Santa, in particular Alex. Ohhhh the excitement in his face was priceless! On the other hand, Rosalia didn’t want anything to do with Santa and wouldn’t want to go near him. Maybe next year Rosie.
Hubs and all the boys actually went out to Dave Busters on Christmas Eve. They came back with yummy arrachera for a non-traditional dinner. Our original plan was to deep fry a turkey but thinking that most restaurants will be closed on Christmas Day we decided to save that meal for then. Holidays for us are always non traditional. For starters, we aren’t a big fan of the traditional turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes holiday dinner menu. So we almost always switch things up. On top of that, hubs doesn’t always get holidays off where it isn’t convenient to spend most of the day cooking versus spending quality time together.
The kids got to open gifts from grandpa on Christmas Eve and immediately started playing. We played Loteria and even had a bit of karaoke fun. Sebastian won too many times in a row, coming up with about $15!! He was so proud! Alex was not keen of my duo with tia Chio, especially when we sang Frozen songs. He kept telling us to stop! HA!
Alex, like every morning, was the first one up on Christmas day! He was so excited telling us Santa came and that there were presents under the tree. We tried to make him wait for everyone to wake up but he was making too much noise that it actually woke everyone up. The boys were very excited opening gifts and did a few happy dances. Sebastian “fainted” when he saw his tia Mago and Tio Dave gifted him Army men and vehicles. We played more board games and lounged around all day! It was a very fun time. I actually can’t remember the last time that we spent Christmas with family like this, which is exactly what made this Christmas extra special.
We look forward to another wonderful year. We welcome anything that’s meant for us and accept challenges as well as blessings as they make us stronger and better. To my beautiful kids, may the new year continue to shape your little hearts with love for one another. May you each continue to grow into your own unique beings. Mama and daddy love and support your everything!
Love,
-Mama Bear Mimi-
P.S. Our photo shoot was such a delight! Sebastian and daddy hate that I make them take pictures. Alex and Rosie love the camera!! Rosie even says “cheeeeese” and it’s the cutest thing ever. Alex likes to make silly faces and act silly. Sebastian, on the other hand, gets bribed with candy. My favorite picture…the one where the boys are holding Rosie’s hand while throwing a fit. Duh! It’s the real deal! The boys’ faces display exactly who they are…as protective and patient as can be with their baby sister.
